MDV-SEIA held elections for four (4) open board seats this year, and we are pleased to announce that the following candidates were elected by majority vote of the membership:
Anthony E. (Tony) Clifford is MDV-SEIA’s Immediate Past President. He joined Standard Solar, Inc. of Rockville, Maryland as its CEO in 2007. Under his leadership the solar photovoltaic developer and integrator has grown rapidly. Mr. Clifford began his career in solar energy at the Solarex Corporation, the world’s first manufacturer of terrestrial solar panels, later acquired by BP Solar. Clifford is the author of a DOE report and he received a Special Achievement Award for Technology Demonstration from the U. S. Secretary of Energy. Clifford earned an MBA from the Darden School of Business at UVA and BA from Penn State University.
Ms. Cohen has eighteen years of experience in environment and energy related fields. Located at Ameresco’s DC office, Ms. Cohen specializes in developing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Ms. Cohen works with clients to help devise holistic strategies that reduce emissions and decreases energy demand and costs. Ms. Cohen has developed five (5) landfill gas (LFG) projects totaling 15 MWs and four (4) solar installations totaling over 200kws with another 7 MWs of LFG and 4MWs of solar under development.
As Vice President of Prospect Solar and Senior Project Manager at Prospect Waterproofing Company, Mr. Hillis has sold and managed over $250 million in commercial construction contracts in the Washington, DC metropolitan area during a 27 year career. As the current Co-Chair of the Virginia Committee of MDV-SEIA Mr. Hillis has been responsible for developing a plan moving forward with a Governor that is seen as friendly to our industry and environmental causes. This plan includes educational outreach to residents, businesses, legislators, local governments, and utilities to discuss how all can work together to use solar energy and distributed generation for economic benefit and to create a better energy future for Virginia.
Solar Energy World
Geoff Mirkin has spent the majority of his career with Homefix Corporation, focusing on market expansion. In 2000, Mirkin purchased one of Homefix Corporation branches and grew sales by more than $4 million per year until 2008, when he sold his interest in Homefix. In 2009, Mr. Mirkin and his partners launched Solar Energy World which is a self performing residential and commercial solar integrator. Mr. Mirkin’s leadership roles include sales, marketing, training, operations and customer relations. He brings a track record of building successful organizations, combined with a passion for renewable energy. Mr. Mirkin was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD. He currently resides in Gaithersburg, MD with his wife Franki of 18 years and his daughter Paige 15 and son Max 12.
