Secure Futures partners with its customers throughout the Commonwealth to provide resilient solar solutions with the benefits of on-site renewable generation without upfront capital expenses and operations and maintenance expenses. Secure Futures LLC serves public school systems, universities, hospitals, non-profit organizations, churches, and government agencies. The solar development company headquartered in Staunton, Virginia, currently owns and operates 2 MW of solar properties in Virginia, which will save over 63,160 tons of CO2 over their 35-year lifetime.

In April of 2016, Secure Futures installed a 205kW array on the University of Richmond (UR), using the first commercial application of SolarWorld USA Bisun solar panels. The array was designed to be a research tool for both UR students and faculty and SolarWorld Americas Inc. The project was also the first commercial-scale power purchase agreement (PPA) in the Commonwealth of Virginia since a pilot program in Dominion Virginia Power’s territory began in 2013. Secure Futures LLC, was named as the 2016 “Solar Champion” by SolarWorld Americas, Inc. for its innovative array on the University of Richmond.

In the past year Secure Futures installed the first PPA on a public school system in the Commonwealth on six Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS), totaling over 1.1MW.  As part of its commitment to developing a holistic solar education program in the classroom, Secure Futures aims to provide educational resources, including teacher training and classroom solar kits, for students and teachers within the ACPS system.
