Susan Elliott, City of Charlottesville

In her role as the City of Charlottesville’s Climate Protection Program Coordinator, Susan is responsible for managing, participating, and supporting City and community initiatives that move to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with activities community-wide. Elements of the program include data analysis, collaboration, evaluation, initiative development, and community engagement. Through existing and previous efforts, a foundation of successful projects, practical local experience, and collaborative relationships within the City and throughout the community have been formed. One key program objective focuses on evaluating and easing all steps in the process to increase the energy efficiency and amount of renewable energy generated within City buildings and community buildings.

Prior to working at the City of Charlottesville, Susan managed the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds awarded to Albemarle County and grant reporting requirements. Susan has a Masters in Urban and Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Wellesley College.
